Introduction
Avian Research Station started in 2003,is located in Islamabad at BRC Headquarter. The station started  to collect data on distribution and status of avifauna of Islamabad and Rawalpindi with a dual purpose, which was to train the staff in field identification of birds using modern techniques and to collect the data on present distribution, status and biology of the bird in that area.

The area of activities of the station is gradually expanding. The station aims at ultimately developing a national data based on the avifauna of Pakistan. The immediate focus of the activities of the station, include:

1. To revise and update the available data on birds of Pakistan.

2. To develop a pictorial guide of birds of Pakistan for field identification of birds

3. To study avian abundance, distribution and breeding biology.   

4. To train more researchers in birds identification and to develop a checklist of birds a Pakistan.

  Success at claim: 

  Up till now BRC is the only organization in Pakistan to have gathered a maximum pictorial avifaunal    record in their wild habitats. This target has been achievable due to the overnight austerity and commitment of our experienced ornithologists so far. We are wishful of covering more areas of Pakistan in this aspect. BRC is proud to generate a few results of such ascendancy in Pakistan.
