          At BRC, our rescued/confiscated bears have always been give thematic and informative names, by our valuable staff.
 Following are the bears of the sanctuary which have been named accordingly.

Neelum

 

After the name of a Neelum valley from where it belongs

Mallo

It is a word of local language of Swat, NWFP,  meaning “a strong bear” as it is growing to be one.

Sonia


It means the most beautiful. as it is one of the most healthy and attractive bears of the sanctuary.

Rustum

It is the name of an unbeatable wrestler from a historical myth. It is a powerful bear of the sanctuary.

Shoa

It means a”Ray of hope” that all bear cubs will be soon re-homed

Marvie

It was named after the great local courtesan named “Marvie”, in a famous local legend of Hyderabad, Sindh from where it was confiscated.

Karishma

It means “something very Unusual”, as this bear was confiscated from Deer, NWFP from where confiscations are like a miracle.

Sutaiel

It means “Highly victimized/ highly tortured”

Lucky

It was named so because it got confiscated just before the baiting started.

Joy

It means “happiness”

Maylu

It is a word of local language of Mansehra, NWFP  used for the strong bear.

Roy

It was being named after the name of “WSPA Coordinator Roy Jones”

Jugno

Jugno” means Firefly but it was named so because it was a ray of hope that one day the darkness of brutal baiting activity will soon end.

Style

It was named so because it was a stylish bear

Sohrab

It was the name of the son of the great wrestler of its time “Rustum”, it is being named so because it is a mighty bear of  sanctuary.

Kiran

It means “Ray of hope”, that all cubs will be Re-homed

Reshman

It means a beautiful mistress; it is word of Punjabi language

Manthar

It means the dearest, the most beloved.

Dawa

It means that it is the “Invitation” to all such bear owners to hand over to BRC

Lailah

It was named after an Arab courtesan, it means the most alluring

Rania

It means "Queen" it behaved like Queen among other bears.

22


Billoo

It was named after the nick name of Project assistant "BRC"

                   Now after having a look at the bears, you can give a suggestion for the names of currently rescued bears in the
  Sanctuary, as there are 6 new rescued bears in the sanctuary.
