                  Rescued Bears

BRC is a non-profit, non-political, multidisciplinary base. its headquarter is located in Islamabad, Pakistan. Our main focus, till date, has been on the bear conservation in Pakistan, through curbing bearbaiting. Therefore, the major part of our present strategies and projects are designed in this perspective and BRC has many successes at its claim with regard to these projects. For this purpose BRC has:
BEAR CENSUS
Employed staff to monitor the prospective bearbaiting events, so that appropriate actions can be taken well in time.
Set up a facility to house the confiscated bears at the Kund Bear Sanctuary, in the province of NWFP, having a capacity to accommodate 30-40 bears.

Established a set up to arrange visits to schools and mosques to create awareness against bearbaiting among masses.
Assisted Pakistani authorities in development of a bear registration scheme which can be used to monitor bears in captivity. This scheme  will help in  checking  further decline in  the population of  bears and other wildlife in  Pakistan. This can  also be used in confiscation of bears involved in illegal bearbaiting activities. Number of our  efforts have proved  successful, resulting in a  significant decline in number of bearbaiting events in Pakistan.

BRC has a blend of  senior  researchers with long  experiences of working in  different biological fields, and groups of relatively younger, dedicated and honest workers, with  energies and  zeal to know, catalogue and determine the status of existing biological resources of unexplored or little explored Pakistan and its adjacent tracts,  using  scientific methods. Based  on our  strategies  and scientifically designed  projects,  we have always been blessed with achievements and progress.

BRC is open to technical guidance, support and help of national/ international scientists/conservationist BioResource managers, which will make our task easier.

BRC is open to any scientific collaboration/ cooperation with national/ international individual scientist  and / or  organization institutes/ universities, involved in bio-resource exploration and management.
